Moorings at mid tide, looking east.
The boats on the right side of
the picture can be reached by wading to them, whilst a dinghy is
recommended for the middle row (centre of picture and front row on the
left. The moorings have a sandy bottom, but vessels with deep keels may
need to consider legs.
MOORING MINIMUM
SPECIFICATIONS
MOORING - ZONE 'A' (Front Row).
Combination of 16 mm NYLON and ½'' chain (Minimum) 2 sets to head, 2 sets
to stern, or ALL ½'' chain.
MOORING - ZONE 'B' (Middle Row).
Combination of 12 mm NYLON and 3/8 '' chain (Minimum) 2 sets to head, 2
sets to stern, or ALL 3/8'' chain.
MOORING - ZONE 'C' (Back Row).
Combination of 12 mm NYLON and 3/8 '' chain (Minimum) 2 sets to head, 2

LINK ROPE: Vacated
moorings are to be linked with NYLON rope not less than ¼'' diameter.
MARKING BUOY: Provide purpose made buoy showing mooring number.
Buoy is to be secured to link rope by means of a 3 ft (1m) length of light
chain and link rope is to be tied to head and stern mooring rope.
FENDERING: Boats are to be fully fendered on the port side whilst
moored in the Fluke Hole.
MOORING LOCATIONS: A round metal disk stamped with mooring number
and attached by wire to the club ground chain (head) indicates the
position of the port side mooring chain, starboard moorings are to be
attached at the adjacent metal disk.
GENERAL: PLEASE NOTE the specification of length of mooring rope
has been reduced to a maximum length of 12 ft and must be of continuous
length, with all extraneous rope removed. MOORING CHAINS are to be of
solid link construction and connected with appropriate sized shackles.
Hollow link or pipe chain is not permitted. MOORING BUOY is to be purpose
made, plastic bottles are not permitted.
The attached specifications are the MINIMUM requirements and members are
required to adjust the length of their moorings according to length of
boat, draft, and state of tide etc.
Non NYLON ropes MUST NOT be used in connection with moorings - No fouled
propellers please !
The club reserves the right to remove all moorings not complying with the
club specifications.
The club accepts no responsibility for members' boats or their mooring
tackle.
