Welcome,

Seahouses Marine Club (formerly North Sunderland Marine Club) is a small association of private/leisure boat owners. The club rent the Fluke Hole, a small sheltered bay on the south east side of Seahouses (North Sunderland) Harbour, on the coast of north Northumberland, from the North Sunderland Harbour Commissioners.

The area sits in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on a magical coastline, within easy reach of the Island of Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, to the north. Explore this island, the seat of Christianity, with its ruined priory, church, castle and harbour. Friendly pubs, visitor attractions and cafe’s all make it an ideal venue to visit. To the south is Beadnell, with its sailing club, bay and the only English west facing harbour (Findhorn in Scotland is the other) !! Beyond lies Craster, with their famous Craster Kippers and Dunstanburgh Castle. Due north and out to sea, lie the Farne Islands. A National Trust managed sanctuary for sea birds and seals, and the scene of Grace Darling’s famous rescue and the Longstone Lighthouse, but take care here. The rocks and currents in this area need careful navigation.

And of course, there is Seahouses itself, a busy little village on the coast, with a busy harbour, where small fishing craft operate and passengers vessels carry thousands of visitors a year to the Farne Islands. The Seahouses RNLI Lifeboat Station sits on the north west side of the harbour, and is open daily as a visitor attraction. The carriage launched Mersey Class Lifeboat “Grace Darling” and D Class Inshore Lifeboat “Peter Downes” are based here, and can be seen launching fortnightly on exercise, in addition to frequent call-outs.

And we cannot forget to mention the miles of golden sand, and sand dunes. Its so easy to take it all for granted, but this is truly a magical coastline. NEXT PAGE - HARBOUR PAGE
